VW Amateur Racing

I wish that it didn’t take until today for me to find out, but VW America holds amateur racing events. The reason I am bummed is because February 1st was the deadline to enter applications for the 2008 Jetta TDI Cup, a series of races in which the 30 accepted drivers participate in a series of races in brand a new, VW-tuned Jetta TDI. Apparently, 30 applicants are chosen each year to participate, and price money is awarded for race victories and to the series champion. This is also a springboard for young drivers (rules only allow participants 16 to 26 years of age with no professional licenses) to be signed by professional motorsport teams; there is a $250,000 bonus if a driver gets signed. This is definitely something I need to get into. It’s perfect! Vdubs. Racing. Money. My application is already waiting for 2009. Follow the links for more info and race dates. [SCCA > VW]
