iphone In an interview with the iPod Observer, Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney reports that he has come by some interesting new rumors about the upcoming 3G-capable iPhone 2.0.  The first is that Apple is supposedly ordering another 10 million next-generation phones on top of the 10 million first-gen phones Cupertino has set as their sales goal for 2008.  Such aggressive ordering and goals from Apple could mean the original iPhone will be sold at drastically lower prices.  My thought, maybe even prices on par with current smartphones, around 200 USD with contract.  Dulaney also speculates that the new phone may use a Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display.  Since OLEDs don’t need a backlight, the phones would be slimmer and consume less energy, thus improving battery life.  Not too much more we can do now, but wait for the official release.
