OSX On a Samsung Q1 UMPC?
April 17, 2008 Category: Apple No Comments »
Yup, it’s true. Someone was actually about to install Apple’s latest OS onto a Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium UMPC. The amazing this is that the device’s seven inch touchscreen is actually functioning–although some calibration issues still need to be worked out. Touting a 1.33 GHz Core Solo and the 2 GB of RAM, the Q1 apparently fares pretty well running the OS. The reason for doing all this? Well, the guy simply wanted to "get a feel for what it would be like to carry and use a UMPC with Mac OS X."
Personally, I have been ignoring the UMPC and other MID (Mobile Internet Device) market because I can’t stand the Microsoft OS offerings they come with. This mod is definitely a step in the right direction for functional Apple tablets. Hopefully, some popularity and success with this, along with similar mods, will help push Cupertino to design a touchscreen computer or UMPC-like device. [Engadget > jkOnTheRun]
