I saw this and just had to put it up. Obviously, by now, you’ve figured out why it caught my attention. The WindupKey runs on your car’s 12-volt power and has several other options to customize you key. Sorry if the animated gif isn’t working, follow one of the links for a to see the working image. Keep reading for another image of the other setups created so far. [DVICE > WindupKey]
More Possible MkVI GTI Shots
March 19, 2008 Category: VW No Comments »
I stumbled upon these pictures this morning in German automag Auto Zeitung. The cover shot for this magazine looks to have an exclusive of, hope my German translation is right, "the new sportier" Polo GTI, Scirroco and Golf GTI. The Polo is obviously the European version, and the new Scirroco has already been confirmed, but the Golf GTI is what to be looking for if you are stateside. Read on for the picture of the magazine cover. [VWFixx > Auto Zeitung]
Not Your Typical Cars

It is absolutely mandatory that you check out these ten unique vehicles that The Uber Review has put up. It ranges from a Pac Man car to a turbine-powered VW Beetle, which has a link to the creator’s site. (the engineering that went into it is damn pretty impressive) The video is a must watch, and I have put it up to make it all the easier. While you are over there checking out the cars, there is an interesting alarm clock post I recommend as well. [Giz > The Uber Review]

VW Amateur Racing
March 13, 2008 Category: VW No Comments »
I wish that it didn’t take until today for me to find out, but VW America holds amateur racing events. The reason I am bummed is because February 1st was the deadline to enter applications for the 2008 Jetta TDI Cup, a series of races in which the 30 accepted drivers participate in a series of races in brand a new, VW-tuned Jetta TDI. Apparently, 30 applicants are chosen each year to participate, and price money is awarded for race victories and to the series champion. This is also a springboard for young drivers (rules only allow participants 16 to 26 years of age with no professional licenses) to be signed by professional motorsport teams; there is a $250,000 bonus if a driver gets signed. This is definitely something I need to get into. It’s perfect! Vdubs. Racing. Money. My application is already waiting for 2009. Follow the links for more info and race dates. [SCCA > VW]

VW Announces New Scirocco
March 4, 2008 Category: VW No Comments »
34 years after the original debut, the Volkswagen Scirocco is out for its newest release. I am having a hard time falling in love with the new coupe, but the aggressive front end really strikes a chord. The car will be offered as the "world’s first sports car whose engines are all charged"; there are three gasoline and one diesel configurations. Unfortunately, the US will not be receiving any at release as critics say the car is to similar to the GTI. Follow the link for the complete press release and a gallery link at the bottom. [VWvortex]
1999 VW Truck Prototype
February 27, 2008 Category: VW No Comments »
In 1999, Volkswagen set out to create a new truck. A truck that was not a behemoth in the sky, but a small footprint with gas mileage unheard of for such a vehicle. Ok, so maybe it was not a truck. Maybe not a prototype either. However, this VW owner definitely has an interesting idea, which definitely begs the question, what else could someone haul on top of their car?

Well I am off for my first wash and drive with the h2otuning Volks club in Northern Alabama. Looking forward to meeting some fellas that share the same passion (and probably more) that I do for vdubs. Have a good Saturday.
Cheers,
Matt
