Mac OS X - 10.5.2 Compatible

Blogo by Brainjuice
At this point, I have stopped testing Blogo because
there were too many bugs when I was using it. This may be because it
is not up-to-date with OS X 10.5.2. I was using the newest version,
1.0.1.1. Download the 21 day trial, and let me know how it goes for
you. If there is an update, or I find some patience, I may give this
software another shot. It really does look very promising.

ScribeFire by Christopher Finke
ScribeFire has been very pleasant to use. It is
a very simple piece of software with all of the standard features.
(Spell check, tags, formatting, etc.) I really like that it edits
pages. Another nice feature is that it allows me to create/edit in the
browser, on top of a website. Uploading images and other media into a
post/page is a bit of a pain, but I am finding that with most programs,
it is easier to upload the file(s) using FTP and then link to them. i
definitely believe that good outweighs the bad and recommend this to
anyone looking for simple blogging software that is easily accessible
in the browser.
Pros:
- Page creation/editing
- Cross platform with Firefox
- Easy to figure out
Cons:
- Inserting media

Windows Live Writer by Microsoft
I have to say, considering my usual dislike for Office-like software, Live Writer has actually been one of my favorite blogging programs yet. It offers several more advanced features on top of the blogging standards. The ability to add simple tables and even maps is a unique feature that I have not used with the site yet, but have just explored the options in Live Writer. A nice image feature is ratio lock, which makes it easier to keep the right dimension ratio when sizing down images to fit in a post/page. Also, the program allows for plugins to be added for editing or tagging enhancements among other things, much like those for WordPress. I definitely like that Live Writer edits pages along with posts. The only real problem I have come across so far involved an issue loading a page for editing. My only other minor quip, which is more of a preference, is opening a page or post. I like to have a list in a side panel as opposed to having to click “Open” and go through two more steps to get to the post/page I want. I am sure there is other good Windows blogging software out there; however, I can recommend, without a doubt, Windows Live Writer.
Pros:
- Page editing/creation
- Advanced features
- Image ratio lock
Cons:
- Lengthy post/page open process
